A nice winter solstice get-away in the Methow Valley /
The snow was a bit thin for cross-country skiing, so we split our time between skiing the valley trails and hiking up Patterson Mountain. The sun came out at the summit on the shortest day of the year!

In 2003, I shot photos of Jim Whittaker for an outdoor magazine, Hooked on the Outdoors. This was part of a series of famous people in their garages with their outdoor gear. Jim was very kind and welcoming during my visit to his home in Port Townsend, Washington. Always refreshing to meet prominent people who aren’t too caught up in their own fame.
