I do so like to go to places I’ve never visited and Royal Basin fit the bill perfectly. It’s been on my list for years and last weekend Kate and I spent the day following the trail to the high country and back. Giant trees, moss-covered forest, running water, lakes, tarns and high peaks were our companions.

Hiking in Acadia National Park, Maine /
I’ve always wanted to explore Acadia and on a recent trip to Maine I got my chance. We spent two days hiking the forest trails and pink granite to a couple of summits. We never saw the sun and it rained both days off and on, but it didn’t matter. The up-close views were fantastic.
Hike to Little Mashel Falls /
I’m a big fan of exploring places I’ve never been before and this short hike falls into that category. West of Mount Rainier, the Little Mashel River has a series of waterfalls that can be easily approached. Beautiful and interesting!
