At dusk the other day I drove by a barred owl perched on a wire. I quickly parked, jumped out and stood beneath it. Just after shooting the wire photos, it leaped into the hedge below and immediately flew out across the street to a perch in a tree. Because it was being harassed by multiple robins, I can only conclude that it was raiding a robin nest. It didn’t make a kill this time, but I wonder what has happened since. Were the adult robins able to fend off subsequent attacks?
