On a sunny Thanksgiving day we set out on a 10-mile loop on Bainbridge Island, hoping to find a new section of trail that connects a couple of wild areas. We were successful in that endeavor, but maybe the best part of the day was a side-trail we found that took us to a bay we had explored by paddle board in the summer. The light was spectacular and this bonus discovery made us happy!

A mid-October Climb of Mount Stone, Olympic National Park /
The weather in the Pacific Northwest has been very dry and calm for weeks, right into mid-October. My good friend Andy Towne and I took advantage of this extended summer weather to climb Mount Stone in the southeastern Olympics, just inside the park. Other than the wildfire smoke, which we mostly climbed out of for our night out and time on the upper mountain, it was a perfect weekend outing.
